Tax Credits for disabled child PLEASE HELP

Hi All
Will someone please help me try to figure out how much worse off I am going to be next April? I currently get £504 four weekly in tax credits based on the following:
Hubbys wage £29000 (ish)
2 children, 1 is disabled so gets the disabled and severe disability element
childcare costs £74 weekly
Carers Allowance for me roughly £3240 a year
I have contacted an organisation today who said they calculated that we will be £60 a week worse off - that's £3120 a year!! Is this correct? If it is, I am not sure what I am going to do!
Thank you in advance

Thanks for the response. They might as well have taken away my carer's allowance, it's shocking. Almost cut in half! :mad:0

Any links to the calculator that you used, IQ?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Yep a good calculator would be handy all the available ones give the wrong figures for me, some people on the forum seem to be able to work it out better.0 -

It is the same calc for all 3 - just change the threshold.
So if it is WTC only:
Add up the elements to get maximum
Work out reduction due to income (Income - 6420 x 41%)
Take that away from maximum rate
Same for CTC - except you use the CTC threshold.
If it is a WTC/CTC claim just follow the same steps.
Add up all elements (WTC, WTC childcare and CTC) and then use the WTC threshold to work out reduction due to income as above.
This works if you just want a total figure. Technically you are supposed to do WTC and CTC separately and calculate the individual CTC threshold - but you get the same answer. It just means you can't tell how much is WTC and how much is CTC but on this board people seem interested in the total.
I do also have a spreadsheet that calculates as per the legislation but i rarely use that.

also a mum of a disabled child. hubby earns £12.5k, I earn carers allowance and they are dropping our tax credits by £2k. £177 a month. we are in a lot of debt on a dmp and I cant see how we will survive this. He said the disabled would be protected, yes dla is but surely he knew he was still attacking us with tax credits.Baby Girl Born May 2011Baby Boy Born Nov 2012

Totally agree. No point claiming carers as most of it is taken away by the tax credits. Very unfair would love to work but my sons needs are more0 -
Thanks for clearing that up blondebubbles0
