Is your employer likely to help eg give you x amount and take it out if your wages ?
  • I have been where you are now, and believe me, there is always something that you can do.

If it's money to get to work, look on Freecycle and see if anyone is giving a bike away. If not, put a request in the wanted section.

If it's food you need, then ask CAB or the local council about local food banks.

You must have something that you can pawn or sell, even if it only puts a tenner in your pocket. No-one is so down and out that they have nothing.

If your credit file is ruined (and it sounds like it is) then why not look into a Debt Relief Order? http://www.stepchange.org/Howwecanhelpyou/DRODebtrelieforder.aspx

  • How did you get on at CAB OP?

How were you sold a DMP to land up in this position?

It should have eased your financial burden not added to it, anything you can claw back? temporarily miss utilities payment this month if you can but you'd really need to review your debt handling rather then keep with something which may not work, most short term loans are flex these days so there hardly 'dreaded' for them that qualify, (though I sense you already know this isn't a good idea and there is nothing worse then seeing that declined screen but it will save you) other then that I'd really have to recommend talking to flesh & blood - it can help

I do now find my family easier above any debt advisory service so kudos to you x

Just to clear up a point ...

No-one should ever be "sold" a DMP, StepChange, PayPlan CAP and others will set one up for free: fee-paying DMP providers are NEVER a good idea. I should have mentioned this before - OP if it's a fee-paying DMP company you're with, cancel right now and call one of the ones I just mentioned.

However, if you read the OP, he says that the DMP process is just starting and isn't in place yet. So presumably the current difficulties are down to the tail end of trying to keep up with payments, and next month, once the DMP is in place, things should be manageable.

As others have said what is the £50 for - rather than a short term loan (sounds like these have got you in a pickle previously) I am sure there is a creative way to get through to pay day if there is literally no one you can ask for a loan of the £.

Suggestions being firstly sell anything suitable, if you have really exhausted every option then what about doing any odd jobs in your area? Could you mow some lawns at the weekend, do some garden clearance, help put flat packed furniture together, ironing - anything like that.

If you're short of food, have a really good look at what's in your cupboards / fridge / freezer and pop over to the Old Style board, there are tons of creative folks who make feeding the 5000 with loaves and fishes look like tiddlywinks.
Also, have you contacted your local food bank? In your situation it sounds like you might be eligible for a parcel. Many places like the Salvation Army also offer hot meals in the week - my local town has an arrangement between different places of faith who offer food on different days to ensure people can have at least one hot meal a day. Your CAB should be able to help advise.

For travel to/from work, can you walk / cycle ? If not, can you get a lift perhaps? if you can't offer petrol money again perhaps you could offer to do some ironing or something similar in payment?

As another poster said, check out all loyalty cards you have for points - even with Boots points you could get a lunch deal if needed.

Also, if you're with O2 don't forget to check O2 priority for freebies like Nero coffee its not much but at least you can have a free coffee and use wifi there.
