Missed first payment

Hi, I transferred a balance onto a new post office cc and set up a dd straight away for £200 pm. I was not told I needed to make my first payment manually and so missed the payment which I have been notified about today. I called customer services who were helpful and re-imbursed my late fee of £12 and have agreed to do the same with the £52 arrears charge that was added to my account, they couldn't do this today as there was a problem with their computer systems.
What worries me is I will have the missed payment on my credit file and they have promised to look into this tomorrow when I have been told to call back. What do you think will happen as it was a genuine mistake and they have agreed that I was not informed of the need to make the first payment manually I never even received a bill to pay it

I think most credit card providers are usually willing to not report the missed payment, or to remove the missed payment marker if already added, in this situation.

I missed the first two payments with Tesco wholly believing I had set up the DD during the application process. They were fine, refunded the charge and no blemish on the file. I guess it's common on new cards

    What's "£52 arrears charge"?

banks only report to the CRAs once a month and provide a snapshot as at that date. If you have made good the payments before they do their report then in my experience it always shows as payments being up to date despite it was late - I did it a couple of times on the few cards I dont have a DD on and didnt ask them to do anything as clearly it was purely my own fault. In my case I got the £12 fee but no CRA mark

It'll be the interest on the first month's purchases, backdated to the date they were made.

OP should really verify they haven't also had the 0% rate withdrawn.

For many providers, that date will be the statement date. My guess would be that the second statement has been produced (as they've been notified of the £52 interest), so it doesn't look good!

I have now received a statement showing a late payment fee of £12 which they have refunded over the phone. It shows an Overdue payment of £52 and a min Payment of £200 total payment due £252.
I paid the £252 over the phone. Although I have broken the contract by missing the first payment it still shows no interest charges so I believe I will be okay on that point but It looks like I had to pay more than I initially would have if I had,t missed that first payment.
The first months minimum payment of £200 {+52 }seems a lot on a balance of £2059 but happy to pay it anyway as I want to get rid of this debt asap.

Thanks for the replies and just waiting to confirm my credit file has not been notified of the late payment.

I've forgotten payments before now, paid a fee but not had a mark against my file. Wouldn't worry too much.
