I assume you mean "The Co-operative Group". But the trading name is also used by The Southern Co-operative, The Midcounties Co-operative, Central England Co-operative etc etc etc.
I know East of England Co-operative use the same POS machines in their stores as The Co-operative Group. But are payments processed centrally? More clarification needed.
do you think they had a short term cash need on wednesday morning and wonga could not help?
Never underestimate the power of a beautiful spreadsheet
I went off Co op a couple of years ago when a rude sales assistant got aggressive with me over a plastic bag! I've never ever been so badly shouted at by an assistant and had done nothing to warrant that behaviour so I wrote a letter to their head office. They apologised but I stopped shopping there for the last two years because of it and also because I was sure they had a scam going on because there were dozens of mistakes on overcharging at the till, it was notorious. I just happened to drop in recently after a long gap and this happens! Never again.
Why? Because 9 times out of 10 you will be overcharged. Then the assistant gives a blank look has to call the manager over to go check the shelf, as the til insists its right.
The only thing I now buy is their own brand 2litre water at 25p.
Santander 123 gives 3% cashback for petrol stations.
So, if I spend £100, and get charged twice, I should get £3 x 2 = £6 cashback. If the computer isn't on the ball, and refunds £100 flat, then I would be £3 up. Dream on.
