£4.96 child tax credit?

I applied for child tax credits a few weeks ago and had a letter back on Saturday saying we weren't entitiled based on what we earnt as a couple last year.

I had a baby in March so with me being on maternity leave my income will be dropping quite bit so I called the helpline to give them estimate of my earnings for this tax year.

I've had a payment this morning of £4.96. This year I'm expecting to earn £4300 & my partner the same as last year £14800 so I was hoping for more than that. I used the calculator on the gov website which said we would be entitiled to £192 a month. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you. I apologise for the essay lol.

  • I'll try to give them a call tomorrow so hard when you've got a screaming baby on your hands (just had his jabs).
