Wedding Insurance for Home wedding

Has anyone out there bought wedding insurance for a ceremony & reception taking place NOT at an official venue?

If so who did you use?

I have just discovered that most wedding insurers don't offer public liability at your home address. As we are using the field next to our house, our home insurance won't cover it either.

Many thanks,

I thought that anywhere you had an official ceremony had to be licencsed so that you would actually be legally married.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It's a humanist ceremony after the legal bit a few days before. Apparently this still counts as a ceremony, making it a wedding and wedding reception, with the attendant price hike, not just an event.

Not according to the government https://www.gov.uk/marriages-civil-partnerships/weddings-and-civil-partnership-ceremonies

In Scotland it is different but in England and Wales it still requires the place to be approved... do you have a link to the legislation that changed it in 2014?

Well I'm in Scotland so I was referring to the Marriage and civil partnership (Scotland) 2014 act.

Given Scotland is only 8% of the population its probably worth qualifying statements that are only true for Scotland :)

And if the OP is Scottish? That would rule your point moot on this post.
