Disputed invoice now showing as default

I closed my account with Virgin Media last year but could not agree their final bill. I deducted £29 which was the amount I believe they were overcharging me and told them why. I tried to sort it out with them over the phone on several occasions but gave up after being put on hold for hours, calls cut off, transferred from pillar to post etc and decided not to waste any more time on this especially as they refuse to give out an email address to write to them electronically. We are now looking to buy a new house and on checking my credit file see that this has been shown as a default which I am guessing will cause a problem with a mortgage application despite my otherwise good credit history. How do I get this removed or marked up as under dispute?

''transferred from pillar to post etc and decided not to waste any more time on this especially as they refuse to give out an email address to write to them electronically''
This is a result of you not paying the bill and complaining after the event.
It will take a lot more time now to sort it out.
Write a letter of complaint to the CEO of the company.
If not happy with reply take it to the regulator.
Phone companies are well known for destroying people's credit files for piffling amounts which is why I will never take out a contract phone.0 -
A relative of mine thought he was being clever and did not pay Virgin Media their bill. Result can not now get a mortgage and default on his account for another 5-1/2 years.0
