Child tax credit question

We haven't yet submitted a claim for child tax credit, but did talk to the hmrc last week, who confirmed we'd be entitled and gave us an indicative figure.
Is this figure likely to change for this tax year If I submit a claim in the next week or so? Are there any changes that take effect immediately?

The earliest changes will come in is April 2016.
