Payments and statements.. confused!

Hi all,

my first payment to my C/Card is due on the 31/7/15 for minimum £5.87, but I've set DD up for £60 per month.

However it states underneath:
Next statement details:

Next statement date: 06/08/2015
Next payment due:01/09/2015

so why am i not making a payment in August? or is the 1/9/15: just the 31st August payment a day late?

can the DD not be set for a specific date? or is it a roaming date based on the statement date?
cheers all!

The direct debit date will be based on the date the statement is generated and takes in to account weekends and bank holidays.

oh okay then, does that mean on some months, the DD could fall on the 30th, when i get paid the 31st? sigh! I'm a person who likes DD's to be on payday/the day after then i know what monies are my own (my partners more like but shh! :P)

    Yes, that is possible.

The payment-due dates are not set in stone, but can shift slightly be a day or two in either direction. If you're always stone-broke before your salary hits the account, you might want to contact the CC and ask for the due-date to be shifted to, let's say, the fifth of every month.

Some CC will assign you to a new date if requested, others will not.

More likely the 31st July payment is the 1st August payment a day early. 1st August is a Saturday, so your card provider is asking you to pay a day earlier to make sure everything clears in time

    ahh its all clear now!
i wouldn't like to think I'd be stone broke the day before payday!

i normally have about £200-£300 left over if its not a birthday month.. but i don't like the idea of a floating date :(

To combat this, I move my credit card money in to a separate account then move it back shortly before the DD is due to debit. That way I don't see the money and think it's spendable, it looks like it has gone when I check my balance.
