Easy cruise 2 has gone bust.

Stelios takes no responsibility and blames the franchise despite the bookings and contract being with Easycruise.
Hundreds of people lose hundreds of pounds as they will get no refunds on the flights that they booked to coincide with cruises that are non refundable.
The fat man dosen't care he will just move onto his next venture as he did when Easymobile went pear shape last year.

He'd better care soon or the brand will be associated with bust companies and people will steer clear of the flagship brand such as the airline. The man without a signature.0

I was going to book easycruise 1 for next year. Not now as the same thing may happen.
I would stand to lose my £300 airfare from Glasgow to Athens.
Easycruise should really have tried and seen the season out on this one as therewas only 6 weeks to go until the end of September.
They would have been better standing the loss rather than dissapointing people at the very last minute.
However that is his style, he will move onto something elso and pick up a new group of customers forgetting about the ones he has left stranded.0 -
Well I guess that as long as you're insured you will be covered against this and could either get the cost of your flights back or money towards hotels in amsterdam/belgium - can easily take the train between the locations and make the best of the trip.0

easyCruise 1 is operated by easyCruise themselves and is not a franchise, so should be more secure.
It is not a good situation with easyCruise 2 though. Franchise operations can work very well (British Airways for instance), but one would hope easyCruise had vetted the franchisee far more before letting them operate as easyCruyise. They should have been able to guarantee the company was in the financial situation to operate for the full season.0 -
Easycruise 2 hasn't gone bust but it is closing down due to financial problems. There is a difference.
Paasengers are being appropriately compensated and Easycruise1 is not affected. More details available below including comment from EC marketing:

well, there wasn't many ppl on easycruise2..
and the food on board was not very nice and costly..
nothing really to do, except wait to port..
so if it has financial difficulties, I wouldn't blame it..
but it was a good experience i can say.. Enjoyed Belgium and Holland..:dance:smile everyday...cos its free
Live everyday to the Full..cos there is no tomorrow:dance:0 -

Interesting, it seems easyCruise are in fact acting very well, and refunding people flights etc, as well as offering them a free future cruise!0 -
The food I had on my easyCruiseTwo trip was I thought fairly good value for money. Some things on the menu were good, others not so. Probably didn't help their financial situation that they forgot to charge my group for quite a few of the drinks and meals we had on board!
It's a shame as I really enjoyed my trip (worked out at £100 each for one week including Eurostar to Brussels)0 -
Hi, I've been reading the comments about easyCruiseTwo and I just wanted to clarify the situation for everyone.
It has been announced that easyCruiseTwo will cease cruises from Friday 17th August, six weeks earlier than the original date of 28th September. This is due to the financial situation of Boonstra Riverline - the company that owns and operates the riverboat on a franchise basis.
easyCruise is in contact with all passengers that were booked to travel with easyCruiseTwo and we are offering a full refund for their cruise and travel arrangements as well as a complimentary cruise on easyCruiseOne to be taken by the end of 2008.
Please be assured that this announcement does not affect easyCruise's own ship, easyCruiseOne, which is currently sailing in Greece and which is operating as normal. In addition we continue to actively seek new vessels and new itineraries for our customers.0 -

Looks like easycruise have dealt with this problem very well. I am glad they are refunding people their airfares and offering a free cruise.
Imagine Ryanair saying they would pay for your hotel if they cancelled your flights!!!
Easycruise could have communicated the message a bit more clearly on their website yesterday and there wouldn't have been the same panic.
However I think most customers will now be pleased the way things have been handled and thanks to Paul at Easycruise for clarifying things onj his earlier post.0
