How long can i claim WTC?

I am self employed and been claiming WTC for two years, so far my self employment income has roughly stayed the same for two years, if i do not make a significant profit or even if my income decreases, is there any chance that the WTC will stop?

If you do not make significant profit (that is - close to or exceeding NMW) then you may be investigated.
If you are vastly under NMW, and are not likely to improve, this investigation is almost certain to find that you are not in work which qualifies for WTC, and may have to pay back some portion of the award.
Allegedly in 2017, everyone will have moved over to universal credit, and tax-credits will be a thing of the past.
With the self employed facing a 'minimum income floor' - where if you are claiming to be working 40 hours a week, your UC will be reduced as if you are earning at least 40*NMW.

Both WTC and UC provide for periods to get a buisness off the ground - while not making a profit.
People who will never make a profit (take home 35*NMW or so) are very unlikely to qualify as making a profit.
