credit agencies not updating reports

back in january I took the advice to sign up for the free trials to check my credit reports. I did and noticed lots of errors some got changed and cleared up immediatly, but none of them have showed im on the electoral roll. I requested a confirmation letter off the couincil (which cost £10) and I sent a copy to experian, equifax, noddle and check my file. I got told that my reports would be updated a month later.

This then took me over the 30 day free trial, but i was like ok, at least its getting sorted. However, it is now july, i have sent in copies 4 or 5 times and they are still refusing to update my information.

Has any one any advice as it is costing me a fortune.

When you say they are refusing to update your information -
on what grounds have the credit reference agencies explained their refusal?

If you haven't cancelled your subscriptions then I would do so, as it is a waste of money, it would be cheaper to just buy a statutory copy of your report from experian and equifax every month until it is resolved.
checkmyfile is only a composite of information from the other agencies anyway, they cannot do anything with your electoral roll info so no point sending it to them again or carrying on with any dispute with them.

The experian rep on these forums should be able to help advise on the experian side, hopefully they will see this post and reply to you to help you resolve the issue with them.

I really want to help you with this, if the information hasn't been updated on your Experian Credit Report in relation to your Electoral Roll for your current address, I'll gladly look into this for you to establish why this has happened.

Please could you email me your details (name/dob/address) so I can investigate this further for you.

Banks make more money by offering loans at a higher interest to people with less than average credit. The credit agencies know this so they make it difficult to take issues or mistakes off on a large scale. Theu effectively control the scores maintaining them at an optimal level.

By refusing, I mean they are simply just not doing it. I spoke to some one at Experian today and they simply said my address doesn't exist.

so how did they manage to "sell" you a monthly service , without a valid address?

They have me registered at my previous address
• We're (hubby& I) are having a very similar problem with Experian. We moved house in February and changed the electoral register in March, which was confirmed by the council by post.
Despite having an excellent credit score etc, we were recently refused credit for the first time. When we checked in the Experian report, our electoral roll address is still registered as our old address.
I rang yesterday to speak to Experian and the lady I spoke to said that due to a huge number of people registering on the electoral roll for the first time because of the recent General Election, Experian cannot cope with the sheer volume of changeovers and additions and are running months behind! I asked when it may be changed and she said it's highly likely it will be at least another 2-3 months, but maybe more!
I said we had recently been turned down for credit and she confirmed that this could have had some impact on the decision. She said I could email in to ask them to add notes explaining this was incorrect and that it was a fault on Experian's behalf but there is no guarantee that lenders will read the notes when they check your file.
Just seems a ridiculous system that lenders are using a company completely incapable of providing the correct information. As this also works in reverse, that people will also be offered credit via an incomplete/flawed report!
