    In your original post about this you stated no property was damaged but subsequently admitted that a pavement and bollard were involved.

    In which case assuming the insurer knows this they are correct in keeping the file open.

    If you simply cancel the dd expect them to pursue you for the money owed.

    And definitely make sure you cancel the policy yourself before they realise that the dd has been cancelled. (Otherwise they will cancel it themselves meaning problems for you getting cover in the future as a cancellation stays on your record for ever)
