Car insurance - Buying top up miles just before end of policy

    Thanks for all the advice everyone. It turns out that when I phoned Carrot they said that I am allowed to go over my mileage allowance by 10% for the year at the end of the policy. Which is 600 miles as I got a 6000 mile policy. So no problems :)

    I suppose this is what they meant by carry on driving for "too long".

    Too many variables open to interpretation. Phone them again and you may get a different answer.

    One of the policies with a black box came up cheap for me a few years back, but i just thought what if you need to make several long journeys that would take you well over the mileage limit.

    This happened to us a few years back, I did my average yearly mileage in a few weeks running all over the place and ferrying family members around.
