Confused about start time:(

I am collecting a car on Thursday and therefore need insurance cover on that day - i.e. Thursday 9th.

The cover note I have been sent states:

Operative from 00.00 (24 hour clock) 9th July 2015

Am I misinterpreting this or something? To me that means it starts at midnight on 9th July, so I wouldn't be covered to drive it in the afternoon:o
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

There is 1 midnight a day. And that's at the start so policy starts at 12 am on9/7 because midnight at the other end of the day is actually the start of the next day I.E. the 10th. You sure you should be driving if you can't tell the time yet?

On a 24 hour clock midnight is 24.00.

00.00 is 1 nano second after midnight on 8th July.

I am wondering that too. I just get so confused about the 24 hour clock - why can't they put effective from 11.59pm on 8th July? I would know what they are talking about then.

Actually when I phoned insurance company and asked them, they didn't sound too sure about it either, so it isn't just me;)

Technically speaking 8/7 ends at 23.59.59.999 and 9/7 starts at 00.00.00.000 generally speaking time starts at the beginning so 0 will be the start and not the end.
  • Or the simple answer is to go and collect your car on Thursday, anytime will do.
