As the thread title suggests......I need to install skirting in the house. Is this a job a non-craftsman would be able to do? What tools would be needed to to a proper job? Would appreciate any advice.

The tools you need are a hammer and some nails.
I think i'd drill the wall and put some plastic plugs in.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Are you going to paint them?
i.e will you be able to use a little filler and then paint??
Problem is that rooms are not square ......sorry corners are never at 90 degrees.
If you have stained/ waxed skirtings they look great BUT show up all manner of imperfections. The tools you need are a hammer and some nails.
plus a fret saw/ hand saw etc0 -
When i've put skirting in, as wallbash says rooms are never square. You're going to have gaps underneath and along the wall. So to save on the amout of filler that you're going to need. Get old newspapers and roll into tight 'sausages' to shove in any void spaces before filling on top. And when you nail the skirting to the walls, try to recess the nails a bit then smooth off with filler.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
