So I finally plucked up the minerals to check my score - help

Hi all.

I finally picked up my credit score and it wasn't as bad as expected I am 729 out of 999 on Credit Expert.

I have three alerts, one is relating to credit searches (9 searches) getting a new bank account which I mentioned in another post.

It is the other two I am concerned about:

1 - I have three defaults from 2011 - 2012. The total sum is £3,411. I want to get these cleared as quickly and easily as possible but for the least cost. My question is how am I best to approach this and also how much will it impact my score?

2 - Your total non-revolving credit balance has not reduced significantly. What does this mean is it related to point 1?

Now it says I haven't entered a previous address so my credit report my be worthless. I have added the address. Be interested to see what crops up now !!

First things, first, ignore the score. It's a much use as mop on the Titanic.

If you want to settle the defaults, contact whoever owns the debt. They may be open to an offer.

Point 2 means that you're not paying your debts down.

The number is meaningless, please take no notice whatsoever. Love the mop analogy!

Same as above, these things are just used by CRA's to sell you their 'services'.

It is the other two I am concerned about:

1 - I have three defaults from 2011 - 2012. The total sum is £3,411. I want to get these cleared as quickly and easily as possible but for the least cost. My question is how am I best to approach this and also how much will it impact my score?

Whilst paying the defaults off will mark them as satisfied they will still have a very considerable impact until they drop off your report, six years from the date the default was added to your file. Oh and don't worry about the 'score', as before this is insignificant.

2 - Your total non-revolving credit balance has not reduced significantly. What does this mean is it related to point 1?

It just means you are not reducing the balances on your borrowing.

Now it says I haven't entered a previous address so my credit report my be worthless. I have added the address. Be interested to see what crops up now !!

You credit report in itself is only seen by you and the CRA. Any lender will use the information contained in the report to do their own scoring against their own criteria.

    Good luck..
