Need a rant - Last year we were burgled and 3 lap tops were stolen one new and obsolete. Long story short apprehended 3 individuals and a dog! Laptops retrieved but kept by Police for forensics. Scene of Crime Officer came out immediately and got DNA and fingerprints connecting them to inside my house and laptops - so they couldn't just say they found them in the street.

Also this prompted a search of their homes where a lot of other stolen items were recovered from unresolved cases over the past year. Thought Police were fantastic - kept me informed as case went through Court System. Now one of the burglars is under 18 and was dealt in the Youth Court and is now under the Youth Offending Service and as part of the Restorative Justice process, I have been asked what I would like the Offender to do. All I want really is a face to face apology which I thought would be simple to set up. Oh no, so far I have had to endure a 90 mins phone call, then a 2 hr home visit where they wanted me to sign papers agreeing to this, that and the other. Now after another hour on the phone - they want me to attend a conference where they will ask me questions in front of the offender about my feelings etc as they feel that is the best way forward. What a waste of my time and public money. Typical Social Services - told them to stick it. Last laugh was they asked if I would put that in writing!

OMG I have done a mhoc LOL. Feel better now!

Restorative Justice is the new "in thing". Unfortunately it just adds to the paperwork that overloaded officers already have to deal with, and with more budget cuts coming for the police I dread to think what the service will be like that the public receive. Sorry to hear you were burgled though, thats horrid.
