Woah, £550 on a prom dress
My DD had her prom the other week, she goes to an all girls grammar school with quite a few affluent families in attendance and as a student with a disabled husband I was worried about affording it so I did a booty with some of my stash and gave her a budget of £100 for the whole outfit. She came in under budget and this is the fabulous dress she got,

    http://www.quizclothing.co.uk/clothes/00100004983.html

I even used my student discount. Proms on a budget can be done even if you have 2 DDs to kit out.
A lot of the dresses the girls wore were similar in style. She teamed up with 3 friends and got the parent with the nicest car to take them Definately not me)!
So don't worry to much if you can't afford the price of a second hand car for 1 party!
Oh and she got some French manicure nails from primary for £1, they looked fab, really professional, she did get her hair curled and plaited at a hairdressers though as I'm not great with her hair as its soooo long.

    Beautiful dress redrose. :T

Proms can definitely be done on a budget, 3 times in this house. I found TK Max saved the day twice for me dresses for around £30 and DD3's was a quiz dress. It was sad this time I couldn't go and pick it with her like I did the other two. She started panicking she wouldn't have one when I was living with my mum and I couldn't get out to do it with her so had to trust DD1 to take her but again they were sensible with the money.

DD1 was the only one that went to hairdresser to have her hair put up but it was a lady who worked from home so didn't break the bank. DD3 curled DD2s hair and did her own. And think I mentioned before that old red buses took them both to proms, works out really reasonable if you can get a big group together. :)

And there was definitely no money for spray tans here, in fact wasn't even asked for and I don't remember seeing any of my girls groups of friends looking like they had one. Must be a new thing. :o

It's been weird doing non glitchy shopping, but have had our stash to live off ;)

Things are alot brighter as we are off to Weymouth for a week on Thursday. Fourp & I are really looking forward to this :D

Just sitting on a bench eating chips from the Seagull Cafe & watching the boats sail past - bliss :A

We have booked a holiday let by the harbour that sleeps 10 - no more than 10 - only 10 - try telling my Father & sister this ....

My sister's daughter age 19 didn't want to come.... fine as she now lives in Swansea.
Now she wants to come, so sister says to me casually like
"Oh & daughter is coming too, Dad said he would pay extra for her, so no need for you to worry":eek::eek::eek:

    :mad::mad::mad: 10 people only 10 people - insurance, beds etc = 10

Dad rings me rather sheepy .....

So I then have task of finding a B&B nearby for her & Dad was paying for it.

Found one - paid - rang sister with the news & guess what she says?

"She can't stay there on her own"

no thank you for sorting it out :(

I reply with "You can stay there then instead" :p:p:p

Family - you can't choose them like friends ;)

I often think of you when I see deals on Groupon/Living Social for places in Weymouth. I nearly PMd you with an afternoon tea one other day as thought you may have a holiday coming up. But then I realised it was for Swanage not Weymouth. :o

Hope you and fourp have a lovely time with all your family. x

Asbo Annie is very cross that it's raining because she won't go out in it so she's trying very hard to get MG's attention, rubbing her face all over his hands and legs trying to plonk herself as close as she can ... She's currently upside down with all four paws in the air like a child :rotfl: :rotfl:
