I've had a big wake up call!!!

I am currently in financial difficulty and unemployed. I've been trying to access a basic bank account, after trying several banks I have been declined.

Each time after every application they advised to check my credit report due to discrepancies, so I hve taken their advice and ordered my report with Equifax and these are some of the concerning issues I am worrying over.

1. My Experian Score is 1

2. I have a CCJ although I am aware of that and I am paying £1.00 a month towards it..

3. It saying I have around 20 defaults

4. Over 100 searches in last month.

Good news I don't have any Cifas/Fraud Markers and I am on the electoral Roll.

I don't even know where to begin to start fixing my situation

Look into APS Financial if you need an account

Barclays and Co-Op are recommended by this site.

Which banks have you been trying?

My situation is different to yours, I have a bad credit rating but not as bad as yourself (no offence) but Lloyds closed my account and put a marker on me (by the looks of it just a referral one which means all applications get referred automatically).

Anyway, the point of this post is I too had difficulty getting an account and went into Barclays today for a Cash Minder account. I had to apply in branch. The women told me they did not credit check but they do check with fraud.

Within 20 mins I walked out with a new account approved done and dusted.

    Follow exactly what I did.

Then do what I intend to, to fix your situation, settle your defaults first and tidy the current debts up before applying for any new debts. Chill on the credit searches though!

Local credit unions are always an option too.

When I applied for a 2nd joint account I'd found they did a credit search even though I wasn't applying for credit. I was signed up to experian at the time and it said that search was a negative on my credit file which was a bit annoying.

Still got the account which was the important thing.

Barclays account. Stop spending and adjust your way of life today. It's tough but you'll be wiser once things pick up.
