Minibus Insurance

I've hired a 9-seater minibus to take my family & a couple of their friends on holiday. We're driving up to Scotland (from Manchester) for 7 days in the middle of August (2015).

The company I've hired the minibus from says that they will charge me £55 per day for insurance. Which seems excessive to me! But they say I can get private insurance if I want to.

I've asked my insurance company but they don't do minibuses. I've tried various other companies but they've either said they don't do it or don't ring me back, i.e. they don't want my business!

Any idea where I can get short-term minibus insurance from?

Cheers...

£55 a day just for insurance and not the cost of hire including their insurance?

My old firm used to hire vehicles and add them to the company policy to get cheaper hire.

If getting insurance elsewhere you need to make sure they get all the facts right and cover the cost of hire whilst its being repaired.

Dont forget if you damage it and its in the workshop for repairs for a week the hire company will want the costs for that.

They maybe letting down customers who have booked your vehicle.

    Why?

Using gocompare to find comparisons of short term minibus insurance sounds good advice for the OP!

It's not gocompare that I'm concerned about, it's the other possible site that a new member has resurrected a 6 month old thread to post about.

But there is no other "site" the newbie posted about!
