Driving MOT failure

Thanks everyone - Kwik Fit are with it now although they can't find the locking wheel nut. It's in the car somewhere!
AdrianC, Kwik Fit are free to me as it's part of the motability deal that tyres are covered.
I did a bit of googling after I posted and realised that it wouldn't be a good idea to drive it, the woman who called was a bit ambiguous about it which is partly why I checked here.
Hopefully it'll be sorted soon, although I'll need it back asap, probably before they do another MOT (unless they can pass it when the work's done, rather than having to do the whole thing again?), which is the other part of why I checked here. It won't have an MOT, but won't need an MOT, and the problem that's making it dangerous will have been fixed, so all should be well with me driving it until another appointment is made.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Why was it in the garage for an MOT if the car isn't 3 years old until September? The earliest it could be tested is some time in August.0

You could test a 1 day old car. You're conflating issues.0

Thanks everyone, it's sorted and the car's back now. Sorry for going into a panic and asking on here.
Tadleybaggie, motability told me it had to be done sometime now even though it wasn't neecessary until September. As someone said above, I guess it makes it easier when they get the car back.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Motability insist on an MOT being done two months before the end of the standard 3-year lease period. OP was merely complying with the conditions they accepted.0 -
I had a car fail due to a split on the tyre. took it to a local tyre shop and then back to the MOT station. They chap just looked at the wheel, saw the new tyre was fitted, then did the cert.
No need for a full test.Never Knowingly Understood.
