Hi to anyone reading,
I'm looking to pay for a hotel stay for myself and partner, and two kids, the hotel being in Corfu. The company whose website I have been looking at is based in Corfu (they appear to be an idenpendent booking company selling or acting as an agent for hotels on Corfu). As expected they are offering the hotel stay quite a bit cheaper than booking direct with the hotel, hence the reason for looking to use them. My question is two-fold: will Section 75 cover us if using them, and also what protection do we have in general for booking to stay at this hotel given the uncertainty surrounding Greece (reports of hotels, restaraunts etc being unable to pay suppliers for food, goods)?
Any help appreciated, and requests for more info welcome, thanks.

Pay with a credit card and ensure you have travel insurance in effect before booking.
Also remember, if its much cheaper then there has to be a reason for this. If worried email the hotel direct, point out the rate and ask if they will match it.0 -
S75 doesnt give you additional rights, just gives you an additional party you can pursue.
S75 is also limited when you are using an agent as the protection is only between you and the company you directly pay. So as long as the agent has made the booking for you there is no S75 protection if the hotel goes bust because that isnt the responsibility of the agent where as if you booked directly with the hotel there would be protection for such things.
Travel insurance is the most sensible way to protect yourself though and with it its generally irrelevant how you booked it0 -
S75 won't protect you for your general stay in Greece and certainly won't protect you because you cant pay for anything with the CC.
Your cover ends when you check in as that is the contract you have with the vendor.
I am going to Rhodes tomorrow and taking all the cash I need for a two week stay, so you know this, you can't blame anyone else if your Credit or debit card is refused.
I am however not worried one little bit, Greece isn't going bankrupt over night, it's business as usual.0
