Help with mp3 player please?

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help.

I bought a Sony NW-E005 from Boots last week in the sale, thinking it was a top bargain at the time. However, got it yesterday and the damn thing will not work. The software installs ok but not the driver for the device. Have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, downloaded the new version of Sonicstage and it still wont work!!!! spent all last night and the majority of today trying everything possible to get it to work. The machine itself is working, its charging when connected to the pc, and playing the "sample" tracks on it fine when not connected. I really am at my wits end and wish I'd never bought the thing! After doing a search on the forum, I notice that a lot of people were having trouble, but nothing seemed to be recent. Has anyone got experience of this and did you get yours to work?? I have sent an email to Sony in the vain hope that they will help. If not then its going back as I cant be bothered with the hassle to be honest!

  • I have had a SONY MP3 player for a few years now, it's the Vaio pocket and when I started to use it, I felt exactly the same as you are feeling now moosetastic .

Sonicstage has it's glitches and SONY were very naughty with their use of DRM which I believe that they no longer install without the users knowledge.

My advice would be to google solutions or look on this forum:

    http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showforum=24

or take the easy option and take it back to Boots before you spend weeks installing tracks, the device not working, re-installing tracks and software etc.

I know that I had a lot of problems and another one of the solutions was to use different software to transfer the music.

If I am ever thinking of buying a new gadget or have a problem, I usually type:

Sony NW-E005 problems or sonicstage problems etc in google and see what comes up, it saves a lot of grief in the long run.

*I feel that this was a little "rambly" and I may get told off for posting a link :rotfl:*

    good luck

thanks Blinx, to be honest I wish I had read all of the problems people had got with these machines. Sending it back to Boots tomorrow and getting a cheap plug and play one from Argos I think!! The one I have now (which cost me just over a quid from ebay!!!! :rotfl: ) is so much better than this Sony one, and I never thought I'd be saying that!!
