Santander fund animal testing

I do like Sanatnder, the girls in the branch are so nice when I pop in but I was upset to hear that they are giving money (over £1 million) to a charity that undertakes medical tests on animals.
Their national charity for 2015 is British Heart Foundation and I double checked and they clearly state that whilst they look for alternatives they do fund medical experiments on animals.
I can't believe they are so heartless. Its such a bother closing my accounts but I have been left with no option.

Many on this forum find it difficult to empathise with their fellow Europeans in financial difficulty let alone animals used in testing so I imagine you'll not find much sympathy beyond this comment. You'll be labelled a troll and lambasted for making such a post with a first post.0

Wait until you or someone you love has a heart attack and needs the product of that research. Then decide.0

If testing on animals can stop heart disease being Britain's biggest killer then I support it.
I've just made an extra deposit into my 123 account to help them.0 -
If you were on a hospital bed suffering close to death, and it could have been prevented by animal testing, you would have wished it could have been. I can assure you of that.
I used to be against animal testing, but ho to the hospice and watch people die slow and painful deaths. You mind will soon be changed.
I don't want animal testing, but if it saves my life its a required "evil". If you feel so strongly campaign for vegans.0 -
We all have our own priorities. You are welcome to yours, I'll stick with mine. Now, where is that copy of Heart Matters, the BHF magazine, I was reading?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I would be more concerned about them sponsoring animal testing if it was the cosmetic industry as there is no need for this to be tested on animals and the way it is done is very cruel.
As for Medical testing on animals that's different many of the drugs you use today were tested on animals, even plain simple paracetamol was tested on monkeys before it was allowed to be tested on humans.
So perhaps you stop taking all medicines and vaccinations as they will have been tested on Animals. The animals in Medical testing are treated far better than most humans are treated.
I doubt your going to stop taking medicines and vaccines because of this, so why because its a bank?Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
My daughter has a serious heart condition and the BHF nurses were wonderful when she had surgery.
Might look into opening a Santander account. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
"Animals in Medical testing are treated far better than most humans" are you serious.?0

I think this topic can be quite personal. There is no right or wrong as you dont have all the facts and it is someones personal choice to be either happy or disgusted at this idea.
That is totally fine. I dont think it should be up for discussion on this type of forum however. You're opening yourself up for some very strong opinions.Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0 -

EVERY drug on the market in the UK HAS to be tested on animals...
the OP is going to have a hard time avoiding it if they ever get as much as a cold.0
