Self Storage - Help

Hi All,

I'm in the process of Moving house and I'm going to need some long term storage 6-12months. I wondered if anyone knew of either

A) Some reasonably priced storage centers in or around Leeds?

or B) Whether there is anywhere I can easily compare prices? Or any handy sites where I can put an advert of what my requirements are and maybe somebody comes back to you with their best quote?

*Due to the length of time I need to store the usual firms that spring to mind (big yellow storage) seem to rack up a big bill. 6 months for a 35ft unit works out at £21 per week.

Any help would be most appreciated

Depends if you need access. If you do, then self storage is about the only way. If you don't, a lot of removal companies will crate your stuff up and store it.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
  • I used www.comparethestorage.com when I moved recently.

When we did this last year, I looked up all the local storage options and put the total costs in a spreadsheet, month by month (they all have varying "special offers" - first month free etc). By about month 4 or 5 the costs are all very similar. If you will want access, make sure it is somewhere convenient for you and that access hours aren't limited. Alternatively, another friend of mine had her stuff stored by her removal company for the 6-8 months she was between houses. I think they were reasonably cheap, but she didn't have access to any of it.

Not local to Leeds, so can't recommend anything local I'm afraid. We used the big yellow people, and they were fine, access was pretty easy and the place was secure.
