waiting on a bank transfer

Can anyone tell me how long a payment from a santander business account should take to clear in a clydesdale personal account ? Was told it was sent late afternoon Tuesday and that it will take 48 working hours to clear. I have only heard of working days before and by using an 8 hour day as i guide, that would be 6 days that would make the payment on Wednesday. Is this a normal practice for a business account ?

For Faster Payments deadline is end of the next business day. My today's transfers from Halifax were instant.

Even if it was BACS, the deadline (3 working days) has passed already.

So basically my bad feeling is justified ? Its my daughters first wage from a part time job that is being paid into my account as her own bank account wasnt opened in time. She has access to messages from others awaiting payments and refunds etc, and too many people are still waiting on payments which should be cleared by now. i really hope I am wrong and it is a banking glitch.
