Vendors taking forever to find onward purchase...fed up

We're in the middle of a chain so I can see it from both sides here.
While there's no doubt it's extremely frustrating waiting for your vendor to find a house, I was adamant that if we didn't find the right house we wouldn't be moving.
Renting unfortunately isn't an option for us as we have 2 dogs.
You really have just 2 choices here, wait (possibly forever) or look for something else.0 -
Don't tell them anything just keep looking.
Could put a hold on any spending on the current deal.
If you find somewhere you like better that can proceed move onto that.
When that moves forward enough then tell the others.0 -

They had suggested that they might rent ‘if they had to’ however that’s obviously not going to happen.
What about you rent ... ?0 -

There's no need to let them know. View other houses if any good ones come up. If you find one as good as the current one, then you let them know and say "get on with it or we're pulling out and buying the other one".
Until you've got somewhere else to go, you haven't got a leg to stand on when it comes to negotiating. If you find something else, they can choose whether to get out into rented or just find another buyer who they'll also make wait.
As I said before, where is their incentive to rent? If they've found a new buyer easily each time someone has pulled out, why would they go to the effort and expense of renting? Also as I said, when we sold we would have gone into rented if we'd got a high price, but at the offer level we got from people we knew our buyer was easily replaceable.0 -
Could you go ahead with your sale and then rent until the purchase is ready?0

We have been looking on RM etc. since we put in offer and we have no qualms about going in for another property however we haven’t found anything. We are being quite fussy aswell for various reasons and so this is THE house that we want. We just can’t find anything to match up to it.
I don't get what you are trying to achieve.
If there is nothing else on the market you are interested in, then you might as well just hold tight and wait for them.
When we sold our house, we couldn't find anything either, so offered two prices to our buyers - one price and they had to wait for us to find something (it would have been 5 months), and another (higher) price and we would move out.
They opted for the latter and we put our stuff in storage and moved in with the inlaws.
Why not increase your offer on the basis they go into rented and complete within 6 or 8 weeks?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
In the first post the OP says they are renting.0

I'd look for another and not even tell them.....0

That's where we are now....at the mo it's whichever comes first out of us or them finding another house.
I know there is no incentive to rent. As I say, its been a while now and I havent pushed them because I do see it from their point of view. However sympathetic I may be though it doesnt help our situation (and I am sure they think the same!)
I like the idea of offering money and if we get a windfall we might just do that0
