I think I may have been foolish I had a Norton message popping up on my screen It said chrome is not protected It took you to install and there were a few messages when i went to that page Bit scared so didn't do anything
As it happened numberous times I contacted Norton on their Live Chat which I have used before Also my laptop has been running pretty slowly and freezing as well as losing the internet connection Have to press the button my modem
The person whom I dealt with asked if he could get remote control to help me I have let them do this in the past when Norton has had to be removed and reintalled
THIS time and here lies my worry is that he deleted and sorted out some files Everything was closed but when you see the remove and install page the cursor was doing things here He also installed the Norton task bar He also told me that the black tick as well as green tick but he says this is the 2015 version
Not sure but right away I changed my pin no and some of the security things on my internet banking Also changed my password for AOL and FB
Not sure if I should have any worries regarding security on acccounts I use online ie purchases online Should I change all the passwords I use on them or is there nothing really at risk I didn't realise that he was going to do this until he started He was cleaning up and removing things which he said were not being used Other question Should I use Chrome instead of Firefox ?? I use Chrome on my Hudl !
Again more work for you guys Thanks I would appreciate it What concerned me was he said thank you for allowing and for trusting me to do this work for you
Thanks again Sue

There is a Norton Tech Support Scam around that convinces you to ring a very expensive premium rate phone number.

This link is to a You Tube video that explains the scam and what to do if you have experienced it. Suggest you follow the advice about running scans with the free version of Malwarebytes and ADW Cleaner downloaded from the Bleeping Computer website.

If you're sure it was someone from Norton, I wouldn't personally be worried. It might help if you have any doubts to check the authenticity of the telephone number you used?

If the laptop is infected changing passwords wont help if you have used the same laptop.
Delete Norton and install avast free edition.
It does the same thing without the bloatware and hassle.
Once installed run a boot time scan from the menu and follow the instructions.
Then change passwords when avast has secured the computer.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

Thank you so much for that information I was a bit concerned and as I stated I did change my password on my Banking Email FB etc
I have used you before when I have had a problem with the actual Norton and used the live help for that In that situation they have removed the existing Norton and installed it again
This situation was different which is why I was concerned
I am due to renew my subscription shortly I have had free security as well as Kaspersky and McAfee in the past When my family bought me this laptop they purchased also a year subscription for Norton I have removed my automatic subscription renewal from my account for now Thanks again to all of those on MSE who very kindly give me advice Thank you especially Norton for reasurring me Sue

I've allowed remote control with Apple a Support on two occasions.

Both times I had initiated the discussion on live chat. I admit I was a little nervous the first time, but I have had no problem.

As long as you initiated the contact you should be fine.
