Try disabling and then re enabling the ethernet card - this may resolve the problem. This link shows you how: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2079064/ethernet-doesnt-valid-configuration-notification-windows.html
It may be your ISP that is the problem not your PC.0 -
Shut down the PC
Unplug the power from your router.
Leave the router unplugged for AT LEAST 30 MINUTES
This will force the line to re-sync
Plug the router back in, wait for it to do its thing
Power up your PC and it should be fine.

sorry when you say unplug the power from router what do you mean,
I have a round circular thing looks like a dish and the modem and phone line is plugged into that? is that the router. Its an all in one so not much else really.
I also have a livebox so I can use wifi round the house, that was unaffected though.:footie:0 -
your router is your "modem" ..
The were called modems (stands for modulator/demodulator) in the old days when their function was to change electrical impulses into audible sound to send down the phone line.
They don't work in quite the same way now and are not called modems any more
FYI the "round dish thing" will be your ADSL filter. Leave that where it is.
Hope this helps

So unplug the modem, not the power from the socket?
can i expect this to happen from time to time?:footie:0 -
It's got nothing to do with the internet.....................
This is about the DHCP server in the router, not giving your PC an IP address.
It's either because there are no IP addresses free, taken up by other devices (see the BT homehub thread) OR it's because something on your PC has set a static IP address and the router doesn't like it.
If turning the router off at the mains "fixes" the problem, but stops other devices connecting, then it's the DHCP range too small. Otherwise it's the PC's configuration at fault and seeing as those things don't just change on their own, I'd be wondering about malware.
But it really is sweet buggar all to do with the internet.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
