Best type tiles for hallway/kitchen in flat ?

I was planning to get Quickstep Laminate installed in hallway & kitchen, partly because the underlay used with laminate would hopefully prevent me getting any grief from the folks in flat underneath mine..

But, I just remembered that if I use my Clubcard points I can get 3 times the value at Topps Tiles - only thing is they don't let you use them for for wooden flooring, which I assume includes laminate..

So, I am now considering some sort of tiling - would be no problem in kitchen as there is only lino type stuff down now ( over concrete floor ) But what about hallway ? - would all types of tiling go straight down onto concrete floor, hence potentially being noisy for people below ?
