Painting garden natural stone wall

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help, we have a natural stone wall in our garden (at least that's what I think its called) which looks old and worn now and I am trying to work out what the best way to brighten it up / improve it.
I have tried pressure washing an area and also tried some Patio Magic cleaner on an area after having cleaned the patio which didn't seem to have much of an effect. I thought about painting the wall with something like Sandtex Ivory Stone masonry paint, but can't seem to find any information / images of this type of wall being painted online, so I'd assume its not the best idea or wouldn't look very good
Here's a couple photos of the wall

Just looking for some tips really
Thanks for your time

I'm not a big fan of painting irregular exterior walls. The paint soon goes manky again and then it looks worse than before, but then your only real option is to paint again as taking the paint off is a big palaver.Solar install June 2022, Bath

I think its a lovely natural looking wall and it would ruin it to paint it.
I think its plants that you need to brighten up the bare wall. Some trailing flowers too.0 -
Leave it, it's lovely. What IS bad though is that nasty gravel in front of it. "Cheer up" that gravel with some more interesting aggregate and possibly some planting and/or tubs.0

Agreed, the wall is the best looking thing in the photo, I'd be changing the fence and the concrete paving long before I touched the wall0 -
Hands off the wall, it's lovely. As it's a retaining wall, I'll guarantee that water coming through the stone will wreck any paint you put on it in no time. If it lasted a year or two you should count yourself lucky. As it is, it's a beautiful natural stone wall, in good condition. The only real marks on it look like little patches of lichen or similar, and will only make it look better and better.0
