what subject are you doing? a literature review is really just a long version of an introduction to a paper. have a look at the 'annual review' journal for your area to see lots of examples: http://www.annualreviews.org/ your masters one won't be anything nearly as long though!:happyhear0

A literature review is basically a big summary of all the discussions and research around a particular concept over (x) years.
Be sure to state what indexing databases and search strings you have used as well as the period you have searched over, i.e. last 5 years.
Depending on what the concept is, you may also need to specify your criteria of inclusion, i.e. more than 100 participants, trials performed in Europe, clinical parameters...that kind of thing.
You might want to produce a table of 'results' or a very concise section that breaks the literature down into different sub-concepts or themes, stating how many papers fall into each sub-concept/theme.
They really are very easy to write. Their basic function is to provide a snapshot of an area of scientific enquiry (and by scientific I mean the rigorous pursuit of knowledge, not necessarily putting stuff into test-tubes).
