O/S Daily Thread for Sunday 5th July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Cool here at the moment, but I expect it will warm up later.
I've been up since 5 as I dognapped DD2's dog when I got home yesterday so she wasn't on her own for too long.
Hampton Flower Show was wonderful, fantastic displays, wonderful show gardens & lots of interesting things to buy. https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-hampton-court-palace-flower-show/gardens.
Unfortunately the journey was hideous, it took us 4 hours to get there & 3 to get back and it's under 40 miles away, the last half hour was queuing to get into the car park, the rest was poor navigation on behalf of the co-driver, lol.
I have to admit sitting in a hot car is not my idea of fun & sitting in a car with 2 squabbling women is a special type of hell. I was so glad to get home & relax.
Today's plans include more work on my sewing room & lots of cuddles with Luna (the dog) Luna will be doing a guest post on my blog later.
The WM is on it's first load, The DW has been unloaded, the fish have been fed & Luna has fresh water. I'm going to water the garden as it was too dark by the time I got home yesterday.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Looks bright outside and I woke up very hot, threw back the duvet, wafted some cool air into the bed and covered up again. Now I may have to get up.
Plans for today...after breakfast I will drive into town, despite me doing shopping yesterday I forgot to get bananas, then I'll go for a walk, post a birthday card and then get on with some household chores.
There's some things to organise for my holiday, I like to plan ahead and not leave things to the last minute. The personalised gifts I bought from a website arrived yesterday and I'm delighted with them. They're just little things as I'm not carting stuff halfway around the world!
Whatever everyone is doing I hope it goes well. Happy Sunday.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's lovely and cool here this morning. I'm the only one awake as I had a bit of a panic over some things I'd ordered from Amazon so got up to try and cancel them before they were despatched. I had a very 'spendy' day yesterday and I'm not quite sure why. Unfortunately, the Amazon order was the only one I could cancel so I will have to send everything else back when it comes apart from a nice camera which I will keep as I would love to take some good photos of the girls and Max of course.
I am supposed to be going to church this morning but it is 50/50 whether I make it. I can see me going back to bed to be honest as I'm feeling very tired and wrung out.
Everyone else is still fast asleep so I have fed the puppy and the cat and will put the kettle on for a cuppa. Hubby is cooking pork loin for lunch which will be nice and I will be making pork schnitzel with the leftovers tomorrow. It's weigh day tomorrow as well and I am cautiously optomistic as I have had a pretty good week food wise. I am absolutely craving quiche for some reason so will have to make one in the week and have with some salad.
Well, that's all from me, hope you all enjoy your Sunday whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning one and all. Another scorcher in store by the feel of it, though we have some rain forecast by evening.
DD is at the caravan with the girls this weekend and we plan on taking over when she is ready for leaving later this afternoon. We'll have a bit of time with them before they set off. We did plan on staying until Thursday as not needed for childminding until then, but eldest DGD (10) is in the year 6 school play and wants us to watch it. So now coming back Wednesday instead!
It hardly seems worth the effort for just 3 nights but Mr TA wants to go to Ripon Races tomorrow. It's an evening meeting and I prefer afternoons. Maybe this time we will need Securicor to escort us back with our winnings lol!! I'd be happy if we just broke even but rarely do. It's a good job he doesn't make a habit of gambling and these race visits are few and far between. We usually just go twice in each caravan season. I suppose it's a small price to keep him happy!
Shortly I'll have a sort through my ready meals, made and stored in the freezer, as they will save me getting in a lather cooking in a warm caravan and just need popping in the microwave. Plus a few picnic items for, hopefully, a riverside walk if the weather holds.
Have a good Sunday all. Take care whatever you are up to and ((((HUGS))))) if you need one xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Very hot and sunny here in The Hague, went to Utrecht yesterday to see the Tour De France time trials which was brilliant but a bit draining in 33 degree heat!
Only OS has been putting a wash in the machine! Hope you're all well. Take care. Xx0 -
Morning :hello:
LameWolf Ahhhh the Noyz Boyz – I'd forgotten you'd said they were visiting
Scampi is behaving himself again – apart from the bit where he peed on my shopping bags. They were empty, thankfully

A couple of days ago there was a wet patch on the carpet next to the fridge freezer, I thought Scampi had peed during the night so I cleaned it up. It's there again and about six times bigger – there's no way all that came from one dog, lol. I took a closer look and it's coming from under the fridge freezer, I pressed a white cloth on it and the liquid is brown and a bit sticky. There are no leaks from the usual places, so it probably means there's a crack underneath and the insulation is breaking down from air contact (apparently - I've just reading about it). It hasn't been great for a while but it's about to give up, I think. I don't like replacing things, I feel like I've spent money to have the same thing I've always had and there's no gain

I've picked another 4oz of strawberries so will be enjoying them later.
There's lots of green tomatoes in the greenhouse, can't wait for them to ripen.
My broad beans are suddenly covered in blackfly gggrrrr.
Little paws have flattened some of the onion leaves, so I've pulled those up and will just pretend they're shallots instead

It's nice and cool here at the moment, hopefully it'll stay that way. I've put the washing out and swished the kitchen. I'm aiming for all needs being done by 11am so I can be lazy and just get on with my wants

Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off Hester, squabbling adults in a hot car is not my idea of fun either!
Now light, light cloud and sun is trying to peek out every now and then, but it was very warm overnight and is already hot here. Didn't sleep very well as there was a group of people outside, I thought they would just walk past but no, they decide to have a very loud argument right outside the front of our row of houses, for some of time they were just talking but why they can't go and talk in their own house at 2.45am I don't know, they carried on for half to three quarters of an hour and went away and then came back, eventually they drifted off. I did think that the Police might arrive at some point but they didn't appear.
Work was a waste of time yesterday, we had no computers and no telephone lines, and so had to try to get hold of the duty supervisor who then eventually managed to get hold of someone from IT, he came out and eventually we got the computers and telephone lines back, seems the storm affected the server, we got the systems back just after 11am and we only work until 12 noon. It was the town festival parades yesterday as well, so lots of people don't come into town as loads of roads/car parks are closed/full. DH took me to work yesterday and then we arranged for him to come and meet me a few streets from work, he was waiting with the air con running in the car when I met him, the boys had been dispatched to buy fish & chips from the next village, so when I got back they came in just a few minutes later, got plates out and with 10 minutes of being home I was changed and sat eating some lunch. The people then arrived early afternoon to collect the awning we sold on ebay a couple of weeks ago, so that's a bit more decluttering done. Went to visit my parents and my bro and sil have come over for the weekend.
I'm cooking roast pork for lunch as we haven't had a roast for a week or too, will do new potatoes from the garden, carrots, cabbage, brocolli, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Will get going with the prep before it gets too hot, will organise pack ups too so it's all done before lunch. We have to go to the caravan accessory shop today to sort last bits for hols, so once that's done we can be at home and chill. Will watch GP.
Have a good Sunday, remember the sun cream and drink loads x

Warm here and nearly forgot to bring the washing in last night.
Had to go and unpeg stuff about 10.30 and middle dd gave me a hand.
Will wait for sounds of dds being awake then offer breakfast. Friend of DH's came round with a tray of eggs from his chickens which was really kind, so might offer boiled egg or omelette.
Youngest has asked to be shown how to make yorkshire puddings and requested potato, swede and carrot mash with minted lamb for lunch. I also got some green veg and asparagus as she loves it.
Have not made a traditional Sunday lunch for about two months now as it seems somehow wrong as DH said it was his favourite meal of the week.
I have been tidying the bookcase and trying to declutter. Will need to get dds to help me ready the house for professional photographs in the next week or so.
Dumpling
The HB diet books have a recipe for quiche and so far everything they suggest has been good and it does not feel like "diet food".

Good Morning everyone, it's beautifully cool here this morning and actually felt cold at 5.45 when I went up to open the hothouses. I don't know if the rain from the continent will actually reach us but it's wonderfully refreshing to feel cool enough to wear a dressing gown!
Both He Who Knows and I felt poorly yesterday evening, we'd had open sandwiches for lunch using some wheat and rye bread and come teatime we both had raging painful indigestion and the burps. I couldn't think of eating and he managed a cheese and tomato omelette. Slightly better this morning but still have a tendancy to the burps so have had bland breakfast of toast for him and instant porridge for me, we'll see how that goes before deciding on lunch or not. Shame as we'd planned a barbecue last night and I'd defrosted burgers in that heat so I'm not sure if I'll be able to use them even though they went in the fridge as we decided not to cook.
Nothing much planned today so just an easy day feeling as we do but good news from DD2 they had and accepted an offer on their flat yesterday at almost the asking price from a couple with no chain, they will now have to look in earnest for the house they want and I hope it is found quickly for them. Looks as though that Zebra will come to stay on his own for the first time while they move in, going to be hard work but lovely I think.
Have a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning , thank you Hester for getting us going this morning.
It is much cooler here this morning as well, thank goodness, and had a much better night. I have just put a few bits of washing out, but we didn't have a great deal.
We are starting to decorate DDs living room tomorrow, so Himself must sort out the old decorating sheets to take with us. She has rollers and paint brushes, and DGS is coming with us to help. He has stepped down from school now so she is going to pay him for helping, so he has a bit of pocket money to spend. Hopefully with 4 of us doing the painting, it will only take us a couple of days.
A quiet day for us today, nothing in particular planned.
Lyn I am sorry you are both a bit poorly, I felt like that a couple of nights ago, I wonder if it is something to do with the heat. We really are not eating properly either because neither of us are hungry.
Elona thank you for the tip on freezing bananas, I hadn't thought of that but will certainly do it.
Have a good day all whatever you are doing
