I have a set top box which keeps coming up with the message 'failed to tune', it's about three years old, is it a fixable problem or ready for the bin?
Thanks

has it ever worked before in the same house conected to the same arial?
do you have another freeview box to try out just to rule out a weak signal0 -
Yes it did work and I tried it in another room with a different arial and it still didn't work, also with a different scart lead so I am presuming that its dead! What do you think?0

Ask a neighbour what their freeview signal is like, the transmitter may have dropped power levels for whatever reasons recently on digital.
If the neighbours signal is glitchy etc since yous is showing no signal this may be the cause.
There are several reasons for signal reduction, if its near the s.coast the french may have been moaning again. Also signals can interfere with analogue etc. I believe a number of transmitters are operating on low power until switchover.
You could even try your freeview box round your neighbours to totally eliminate any issues with your aeriels/tv.0
