Fitted wardrobe in Reading ...what options do I have?

detailMatching.html?prop=41096839&sale=50881421&country=englandHello all,

Your advice will be much appreciated.
We are moving into our new home soon and we need fitted wardrobe. The room is quite small and I feel our only option is a fitted wardrobe.
Deznw2YDTjl8AAAAAElFTkSuQmCCThe floor plan is here: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=41096839&sale=50881421&country=england
As can be seen above , I can only have an overbead storage wardrobe as there is no other corner of the room for the wardrobe.
With that in mind, I contacted a carpenter for a quote as well as sharps. The carpenter quoted me:
Materials - £810.00
Labour - £3,500.00 (5 days x 2 people) (prices plus VAT)
Sharps bedroom quoted me £3616.
Unfortunately I don't even have anything close to that amount for the wardrobes and am wondering what my other options might be?
Your advice is appreciated

Take the designs that Sharps made for you and photocopy them. Search for a few wardrobe fitters in Hounslow, Slough, Hayes areas of West London.. I'm sure they will quote you much less for a better quality wardrobe.

Sharps inflate their prices to cover costs of all the mistakes they will make and their head office, they will also use the cheaper quality boards and charge you a premium for the decent ones. The carpenters quote is ridiculous for a single fitted wardrobe.

They will give decent discounts for more work. Seriously, I did the same thing about a year ago - fitted 3 rooms with wardrobes and a TV unit.

If you want the details of who made ours, drop me a message (based in NW London but should fit in Reading).

Thanks for your advice. Inboxing you now.
I was even thinking of ikea but if I can have a proper fitter wardrobe at an affordable price I will prefer that
  • SJshah gave some good advise, get the desings and give them around to a few local companies who specialise in bespoke wardrobes etc. Stay away from the big boys.

We used a company in North West London called Bravo London. They did a good job, and fitted up sliding door wardrobes on a sloped ceiling loft extension - we initially received a quote from Hammonds and simply couldnt afford it. I think Bravo offered around 60% of the hammonds price. My wife went and visited their showroom first, and we got the ball rolling from there.

Only part was they took a couple days longer to install then initially anticipated, but really no complaints from us.
