Mot ran out appointment, ok to drive?
Trying to fit my car into a slot for an mot but it's all fully booked today, the earliest they can do is Monday, but I'm working it's going to be difficult.
If I take the car their today and leave it for them for Monday, if I get picked up on a camera or pulled over by the police, will my appointment on Monday be ok, if I drive today Saturday ?

Let the garage know that you are bringing it in today and ask them to note it in their appointments book.0

Yes, you can drive it to a pre-booked MOT. There's no limit on how far ahead of that appointment time.
Remember that you can get the MOT done up to a month before the expiry of the old test, and keep that expiry date - so if it expires at the start of July, you could have had it tested any time in June, and still have it expire at the start of July.0 -
I one ran out months ago, want to get it back on the road.0

As the mot ran out some time ago you may be asked to explain were the car has been since the mot ran out especially if vehicle excise duty and insurance have been in place all the time.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I've driven cars to MoT tests that haven't been tested for years without any problems. As long as you have a pre-booked appointment and insurance, you are good to go... as long as the car isn't a rolling death-trap, anyway.0

I think the OP wants to drive the car to work etc. until the appointment day.
This is illegal and if caught could lead to a hefty fine.
It is a condition of insurance that your car is roadworthy, without a valid MOT it is not, even if it goes on to pass it at a later date therefore you will be driving without insurance which is a very serious offence indeed.0 -
A car can be roadworthy and not have a valid MOT the same way that it can have a valid MOT and not be roadworthyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

A fairly small fine, and no points. It is a condition of insurance that your car is roadworthy, without a valid MOT it is not, even if it goes on to pass it at a later date therefore you will be driving without insurance which is a very serious offence indeed.
