Nationwide vs Post Office for use Abroad?

Hi,

Just a quick one really.. what's the difference between the Nationwide vs Post Office card for use abroad? (except for that one is Visa and the other is Mastercard)

I understand they are both FEE FREE and Commission Free for purchases abroad, but do one of the cards offer better exchange rates than the other? I can't seem to find information on their exchange rates anywhere!

If anyone knows any differences of the card for spending abroad, lets hear it!

Nationwide vs Post Office Card :)

The exchange rates are set by Visa and Mastercard and will be pretty much the same.

ugh the worst thing about deciding between the two is that they're both so hideously ugly!! nothing like the beautiful barclaycards on show at the moment!

do they not both go buy the same exchange rate, i was told that with nationwide you get the trade rate and not the consumer rate. I have a nationwide credit and debit card and the exchange rates have always been the same if not better than you get in any foreign exchange
  • Nationwide use the Visa exchange rate, Post Office use Mastercard - they should be fairly similar.

Yes, they are both ugly. But you might be lucky and get the Post Office Platinum... it's a little nicer than the horrible black and red P O card.

Are you sure about that? I've spent the last 3 weeks in Europe and found that the Nationwide Visa would give and exchange rate of EU1.47- 1.49, the Mastercard only ever managed EU1.43. I'm sure the card issuer must vary its own rate.

Is that a Post Office Mastercard? It is the only one that gives you the full rate, all the others stick you for 2 or 3 %

    Cheers, Des.
