All this is made harder by the lack of a website that others can view to see T&Cs etc.
Unfortunately experience has told us before on this site when people say "the company never told me XYZ" that when you look at the website in question it is clearly spelt out in at least half the cases.
Personally, I would expect a courier not to simply take a handful of loose clubs. I would have explicitly asked about if I should be boxing them and attaching labels or if the courier would be providing suitable packaging if their website/ emails was unclear on the process.
As to a damaged item? Welcome to mail order, stuff occasionally arrives damaged. How a company deals with such issues is much more relevant than if it ever happens. Amazon for instant were fantastic when a hardback book arrived with one corner bashed to hell as they sent the replacement the same day with a free return label for the damaged one and noted I had 28 days to return the damaged one or I'd be charged for the additional book. Irritating it arrived damage but life goes on and how they dealt with it was great0 -
Actually there are T&C's (which I read before dealing with the company). There is no detail about charging £10 per box of items. Just that there is a £10 charge if you want the company to use their courier charge to collect the products. Anyhow , the company has now seen sense and 'as a gesture of goodwill' decided to pay the £10 collection charge . A very magnanimous gesture considering they have broken the 'The Sale of Goods Act 1979'
They also seem to have covered themself from further misrepresentation by stating on another webpage that the image of the product being bought does not necessarily represent the condition of the actual product. Yet when they 'rate' the condition of the product (in my case the golf iron heads were categorised as Good -ie. no chips or nicks and generally well looked after) this was clear misrepresentation. Nevermind , I won't be dealing with this company anymore.0 -
I think I would be saying to "Dodgy Golf" something like:"Your courier decided he couldn't take all your clubs with him. Your remaining clubs are still with me awaiting your collection. Please arrange an appointment with me for collection and note that I will not be paying anything further."This may be one time when paying by bank transfer was useful... at least he doesn't have card details he can charge the second collection to.
Yes , that was why I was reticent to even consider paying them via credit card over the phone (which they offered to do). I knew that if they received my golf clubs and decided they were not worth the £90 quid offered as trade in , they might raise another charge via my credit card.0
