:rotfl: i bought 3 at durham tesco today. had about 3 left on shelf. reckon there well worth £49.:j0

Bought one of these in tesco thinking it was a bargain.
Unfortunately, the image quality was unbearable. Text was nearly unreadable. And it squashed a widescreen movie into 4:3, even though the screen should handle widescreen?
It is going straight back, utter rubbish!
I do have 2 other portable dvd players in my house, and the quality on them is perfect.0 -
Hello
Doesn't seem to have pausequote]
Bottom right button on the remote is pause.
Just bought one from Peterborough serpentine green store today. Should be perfect for my 4yr old daughter in the car and caravan.
To answer a few more questions posted -
Image quality seems fine on the 2 films I tried in it.
There is a big button on the player labeled 'WIDE' This switches between 16.9 or 4.3
Battery life claims to be 2.5 hours - It's NiMH and takes 5 hours to charge.
Found this charger on Ebay - sure it will do the trick

Was it on Mains or battery?
I first tried mine on battery and the image was awfull - lines right across the screen. After 5 mins the picture dissapeared. Of course it was because the battery was flat, plugged it into the mains - no problem.0 -

I found this too. At first I thought it was broken. Turned out it was just the battery pack running flat.
I found pause too cheers.
Anyone found a region 1 hack yet.0 -
Just by an inverter from Maplin then you can run any low-power mains device.
Here's one:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97788&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=INVERTER&doy=16m8
Can someone help - I am technically challenged! I'm not sure if this inverter will be ok as the DVD player takes 9V only. Under the spec for the above inverter it says "Input Voltage 10-15".
Incidentally there are loads of these DVD players at Tesco Brighouse.0 -
The inverter produces mains voltage from the car's electricity supply. Into it you plug the normal mains adaptor for whatever you're using. So, it's irrelevant that the DVD player takes 9V because it takes mains also, which is what the inverter supplies.
I have one of these inverters - cheaper than Maplin's.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
In answer to my own question above...if anyone is interested....
I phoned Maplin and spoke to their tech team. I was told that their "Universal DC Power Supply" (product code A61FJ) would do the job. It includes 8 of the most popular power tips and costs £9.99. Think I'll give it a go unless anyone has better suggestions?0 -

This was tried on the mains.
But in your case, its not really portable if you have to plug it in just to get a decent picture?0
