I need some advice, so if Canucklehead or Eliteheat is around, or anyone else I really would value some help.
We have a shower, its a Hudson Reed, with a fairly big shower head.
On the seperate chrome plate there is two knobs, the top one to turn the water on, and the second one which is underneath with a red thing that you press is the one for the temperature.
What is happening is that when we turn the actual top/water one, the water comes out fast, but when we turn the the second one for the actual temperature, the water trickles out, and we have to wait ages for the actual water to heat up to come through.
No matter how much I turn either knob, the water trickles out when the two are going, and yet the top one on its own comes out fast and furious.
Its only 2 years old, and we choose this make, cause its supposed to be the 'Rolls Royce' of showers, HA, more like the 'skoda' of showers, no offence to Skoda owners.:D
I need to get an idea what it could be, as Hubby is champing at the bit to 'get at it' and thats the last thing I want him to do, you remember Frank Spencer?????,well this is his long lost brother......:rotfl:

Hi, Misgrace: My OH, Corgi Guy, is at work at the mo but I'll show him your post after dinner and he'll get back to you tonight. We had the Hudson Reed Edwardian exposed valve shower at a previous home...I do remember him having to strip it down at least twice as the lever for the water supply became very stiff...lots of cursing i.e. more than usual as he was at home.;) Frank Spencer? Sorry, I'm foreign!! I'll get OH to explain....but Skodas...yes...nephew had one in Canada years ago...had to fill up with oil and check the petrol

Give these guys a call or post on their forum http://www.showerdoc.co.uk/index.html, they do actually answer queries. They were amazing when our Bristan needed fixing. Beware though, there are quit a few spam posts on their forums so just beware of what you open0

Hi
First I would strip down the thermostat section, clean ,silicon grease and re-assemble.If it doesn't work after that I think you would be wanting a new thermostat bulb. The installation book should show you an exploded view of the mixer.Their web site is down at the moment, OH says, so don't know if it is available online.
Will it go full hot to full cold with the same flow when it does work?
HTH.

Thanks to both of you.:D
Canucklehead, I have searched everywhere for the book, found the receipt for the actual shower, the plumber must have chucked it away after he fitted it, as I know I would have kept and filed it, I have every instruction book and receipts all filed away neatly except this one.Grrrrrrr:mad:
Did have a look, and thier website is still not available as yet.
In answer to your question......
Before it started playing up it was a brilliant shower, and yes, it did have the same flow whether hot or cold.
I will hang on for a bit to see if thier website is up and running before I show OH your message, as he is the last option...
>Memo to misgrace, make sure hubby doesnt read the awful things I have said about him> :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Did your hubby explain to you who frank spencer was? lol0 -
Hi again: Yes...he gave me the lowdown...I miss the odd cultural reference but when we are visiting Canada I can get my own back...sometimes you have to wrap them in cotton wool...the poor lambs!;)
Take care.
