Electoral roll problem - Experian

I made a post about this a couple of week's ago and have just discovered that my post has conveniently been deleted?! Is it an Experian policy to delete things they don't agree with?

Anyway, my problem is that Experian have my name recorded incorrectly on their electoral roll and don't seem to be doing much to help me resolve this. This has been ongoing since end of March and I have sent emails and numerous phone calls with no success.

Three other credit agencies plus my local council have my details recorded correctly and yet Experian insists that the fault is not theirs? Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed as I feel really helpless and frustrated, and this whole situation is stopping me from applying for a new bank account and credit cards etc.

Thanks in advance for your help

There's an Experian rep prowling on these boards, who ought to be able to help you

    From another post
"I can take a look into this for you and find out what is happening with the requests that you have sent to us. Please email your details (name, DOB, address) to me so I can help with this.

    Kind regards
    Neil""

So try emailing him at uksocialsupport@experian.com

If no luck, complain within Experian, escalate the complaint and then complain to the Information Commissioner

Agreed that Experian is a crock

Thanks for your reply Kieran. I have seen the rep on other boards but thought I'd ask about other options as well given my past experiences with Experian's customer service. The last time I called them about this situation, the woman put me on hold and pretended to get her manager, while really just checking the line every 5 mins to see when I'd give up waiting and hang up - not exactly helpful customer service!
Thank you for the tip re: information commissioner, will give that a go if I don't get any further with Experian :)

I would really like to help you with the situation you are currently in and look to resolve this for you, as to how your name is currently appearing on the Electoral Roll at your current address on your Experian Credit Report.

  • I am having exactly the same experience. I tried to purchase a few things on-line recently only to be told that I had been refused on the advice of Experian as my name and address do not match. As I have lived in my current home for 6 years, am on the Electoral Roll, have no problems with my bank I don't know how Experian has the wrong details for me.
I sent Experian an email, got a automated reply with promises then nothing.
I then, foolishly, thought I would buy a credit report from Experian so that I could see what corrupt data they have on me. I signed up, paid my £2 (which Experian have taken) and then...nothing. No credit report, nothing.
I now have my bank taking this up with Experian but I do not hold out much hope. I'll give it two weeks then escalating it with the FCA.
Great, having an unblemished financial history totally besmirched by the incompetence of Experian.
