esa arrears payments

Hi i first applied for Esa on 21/08/2014. I was told i wasnt eligible for contribution based due to a shortfall of NI contributions in one of my tax years. They said they would still credit my NI. ( i wasnt eligible for income related either due to my wife working full time) in may this year my in laws paid my NI shortfall for me and i am now due to receive my first payment on 07/07/2015. However , i received a letter this week saying my benefit will finish on 21/08/2015 as it would have been 365 days . That means i would have only physically received 4 payments from them. I want to know if i am due any back payment dated to 21/08/2014 ? I have also been to an assessment today so i will be awaiting the outcome of this. Please help me thank you.

I believe entitlement only begins once the shortfall of NI contributions has been made. There is a 6 week qualifying period for self employed after the date the shortfall is made up, but I don't think that applies to somebody who was employed.

Should you get into the support group then there is no time limit on ESA contribution based so you will continue to get money.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
