As alanq s quote was on this thread, I replied to it on this thread, as, it is Bank Accounts, and only alanqs and your view that it is only savers that this will affect.

I did not quote anything in this thread. I posted a message with a link. Nor did I express the view that bank accounts were not affected.

This is mainly going to affect savings accounts rather than banking accounts

Your message is a quote, and I agree MAINLY savings . but not only or wholly.
Calm down , you are getting carried away , why all the fuss.
it's only a forum. There were a lot on this thread that had plenty to say when I closed the BOS current A/cs to meet the £85k mark, at the time. Now it's to be £75k, and may have to close more current A/cs to meet that new mark.Others may too.The £75k rule affects all banking, so it's wise to cover all aspects.

I'm confused as to how you've managed to save more than £85k in high interest current accounts per person within HBOS? Or do you have savings accounts there as well - if so could you not move your savings instead of losing the current accounts?

Joe's primary reason for closing his BOS Vantage accounts (and asking to close Lloyd's but not doing so in the end) wasn't so much a fear of FSCS exposure, more a fear of forced LBG expulsion following reports of account closures on here.

It would be cheaper for the banks to keep the guarantee at £85k rather than re print all literature and change all their forms etc.
How much have they had to pay out in last 5 years? Yep nil.

Another European cockup which we would be better out of.
