Friday 3 July 2015. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Good morning DFW-Devotees,

Thanks Maria. Get well soon Foxgloves.

Quick post because we're off to the beach on the Isle of Bute for the day.

    New Era Week 8:

:grinheart Driving to the ferry port 5 miles away. Then going as a foot passenger on the ferry and then making the 15 minute journey to the beach at
Ettrick Bay by bus. This is half the price of taking the car over. All out of our entertainment budget.

:grinheart Taking a camping stove to have a barbecue for lunch.

:grinheart Won't spend anything in the shops over there, except to buy good local sausages for the barbecue.

:grinheart Entertainment will be flying our kites, chilling out and perhaps swimming.

:grinheart Paid Council tax on time. £108/month. Diabolical!

    :grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.

Good luck with your Devotions, Devotees.

    Morning All

    Thanks for the mention Maria!

    Morning Ally :)

So just did my first small thing of the day. A payment of £2.36 to CC1 which brings me to a round figure now. I will have to consider when the next payment can be made. This PAD concept is rather addictive though!

Sorry for the short post, am also moderating this month's NST Challenge so have been at that this morning :)

    Later all

Thanks for the start Maria :)

Hope you enjoy your day out Ally - sounds great :)

    Right, list for today:
Washing done and out on line :)

    Check banks

Make a loaf in the BM

    Hoover round

Phone insurance company re query over renewal documentation

More tidying up in garden - as items in pots finish, I am cleaning and putting away the smaller ones, to make watering less of a chore. There is more room coming available in the veg plot now, so less need for things like radishes etc to be grown in pots. I will keep the really big ones planted up though! I use lots of pots to maximise my growing space early on, as I only have a small garden. When big things like the potatoes and broad beans come out, there is lots of space freed up (though sadly no more potatoes or broad beans).

Pick and deal with any produce that is ready

    Any surveys that are available

Meals from stores (I will make a big pot of bolognese today, to use up bendy vegetables)

Right, coffee finished, now get on!

Have a nice day everyone :)

Thank you Hannah, Twiggy & Bob for the warm welcome yesterday. I can't promise to call in every day as the days seem so full of things that must be done!

It was beautiful here first thing - low lying mist over the fields with a hint of the sun breaking through (something to do with all the rain we had yesterday?).

I got up very early to take my dog for a long walk, but he emerged from his slumbers unable to put his one paw to the ground. I thought he had probably got pins and needles which would wear off, but can now see that he is sore in between his toes. I'll see how he progresses as the day wears on, but I expect we shall have to visit the vet.

Just cycled to the local shops to use a Danone yoghurt voucher for 50p off a pack of 4. The 'NIS@' shop has them on offer for £1 so got a 4 pack for 50p.

I need to sort out insurance for our caravan - just had renewal notice and it has gone up by 30%! Why does it cost more to insure a small caravan than it does a 2 year old car?

Ally - enjoy your day on the Isle of Bute. We had a holiday there about 10 years ago in the camper van that we had then, and it was such a friendly relaxed place where people waved to us as we drove by.

Must have a coffee before I feel up to tackling the insurance!

Ooh can I join? I've only got a wee bit of debt but trying to save/pay it off and wee things day to day are what's killing me.

My husband is out for dinner tonight with work so normally I'd phone a Chinese but since I've now started a spending diary and don't want to write it down I'll just make myself something - probably super noodles or something equally as guiltily scummy :D
