Already been covered several times. As stated previously, get a prepaid card such as Pockit which incidentally also has rewards for shopping in certain places.

Also try your local credit union and see if they have the credit union prepaid card. You load up your credit union account and then use the card. With your balance you'll also be helping other members with their small loans.

I know I've struggled to follow your logic before, but in this instance, this just doesn't make sense.

Put the money in an account with a high(ish) interest rate (TSB, Lloyds, Santander, Yorkshire Bank - depending on how much and how much effort you are willing to put in to chase the interest) and leave it there. Set your card off to pay by DD from that account.

No loading, no risk, and you could get up to 5% return. And the money isn't locked on to a prepaid card should you need it for anything else.

Why the anger at this question? Reasons for doing it could be:

    -avoid interest on cash withdrawal
    -purchase above credit limi
-unable to make settlement payment due to travel.

The OP asked for information, not advice.

If it was information they were after, they should have gone to their T&Cs or rang their CC provider.

Posting on a public forum will always garner opinions and advice.

But, I do think it may have been helpful to get the OP to think about possibilities which may have the same ultimate end as preloading a CC. Although without knowing why they want to do it, it's difficult to properly tailor advice.

I haven't seen much anger though...
