we have not heard anything in two weeks so I am hoping its all sorted!
Never again shall we take out a virgin media contact!
Why not ?
Your fault you didn't ask Virgin about the box.
Make sure you read the next contract you agree to.0 -

They didn't need to ask Virgin....
They wrote and told them anyway but they chose to ignore.hello007007 wrote: »Once we cancel we got a letter asking us to return the tv box and everything that went with it. we agnored it however, they kept sending such letter and even a pre paid return packaging.......0 -
Mine is a slightly different situation. I cancelled my contract with Virgin in October and after it finished, I emailed them to ask what to do with the V+ box. They emailed me back telling me to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner, which I did (i.e. local tip has a section for electrical stuff etc).
Last week, they asked for the equipment back, I replied saying I'd disposed of it as they instructed me to but I have now had a number of texts/emails from them, the last email said they were sending out the packinging etc for me to return the equipment and if I didn't send it back, they would charge me!!. I have replied to them 3 times and phoned them twice explaining that they told me to dispose of it but so far they seem to be ignoring this fact. Any ideas what I should do next?0 -

Hopefully you still have the email that they sent you telling you to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way.
Find out the email of the CEO and forward that email to him/her. If you google CEO email addresses you should find the site - it won't let me link to it here.0 -
The same thing happened to me I arranged for someone to collect it and they didn't turn up never heard from them?0

When with O2 for broadband, I had a modem fail and they sent a new one , saying the old one could be destroyed, as it was both broken and out of date. When they discontinued ADSL , probably because they had no use for them, they didn't want modems back either. However, under any other circumstances I would expect to have to return equipment.
The situation with Sky is different, in that they give you the box and dish, but any repairs or replacements, outside 12 months' warranty, are up to you.
I'm not sure, but believe that BT and TalkTalk, require return of equipment, or payment for it, if you discontinue the service within the minimum term.0 -

I have never subscribed or paid for Sky Protect (or whatever it is called). I just phone Sky, tell them there is a problem with my box, threaten to cancel my subscription (even if I am in contract) and hey presto, they then offer to send an engineer to fix my box or offer me a new one for free.
I have done this a few times and used the same tactic to get my dad a new box.
