I player sound on tablet

Why is the sound on I player so quiet on my iPad? I can hardly hear it at all if I'm just a few feet away and if I'm doing something like cooking in the kitchen. I know you can get speakers but it would be too much hassle to go from room to room like I want to do. You tube doesn't seem to have the same problem.

iPlayer will have a little volume slider bottom left, which goes up to '11' (music/tech joke) - make sure you've turned that up, then you us the iPad's volume buttons. That's about it. If it's still quiet relative to YT stuff, it must be a quiet programme. EG you shouldn't expect Dad's Army to be as good/loud as Glastonbury 2015.0
