Pressure washer to clean the patio

Options
Hi,

We would like to clean our patio with a pressure washer, we looked first into renting one but it costs around £60 in our area, and for a similar price I've seen lots in Argos, like this one for example:

Would that do the job? We've never used one before..

I also got a quote from a cleaning company today but they asked for £165!!

Any advice?

I bought this one recently and have cleaned my patio and drive with it so far and come up a treat.

They were having a 10% off sale at the time. So I got it for a bit less than 79.99 but still at that price is not much more than the price to get someone else to do it, and you don't have a power washer at the end of it all.

That karsher looks very similar to the one we have and it does a pretty good job of cleaning the patio.

The rotating head patio cleaner is a lot easier and better to use than just the lance (although you sometimes need to swap to the lance for stubborn muck).

As already suggested get one with a patio cleaning head.

I can clean my patio front and back with the patio cleaning head in less time than it used to take me to do just the back with the lance and also with less 'splashback'

I bought a Nilfisk and its great but I only chose that one because it was the best value with all the attachments at the time I was looking - also it has a really long hose which means I don't have to physically move the pressure washer at all once ive switched it on and am in cleaning mode (OK, thats probably not a big deal breaker but something to mention)

I bought a 'Workzone' one from Aldi a couple of years back. I believe this is made for them by Karcher.

For patios, use the lance at an angle of 45 deg. that way the water and dirt are thrown away from you with little splash-back.

Don't use pressure washers on wooden decking or furniture though. It opens up the grain of the wood and accelerates the rate of decay.

We bought this Nilfisk model from Argos, two years ago, and the price is still the same. It has more equipment for slightly more than the one you linked to .

We went for Nilfisk after reading lots of reviews which said their motors last longer , as they are similar spec to the more expensive Karcher models. I can't recall details, but the reason involved the type of metal used.

We had the Nilfisk and whilst it seemed more robust than the Karcher we sold it due to the poor performance of the patio cleaning head.

The new Karcher we have was purchased directly from Karcher who have some really smokey offers on their refurbished stuff (sign up for their newsletters).

Having said all of that, this year we bought some patio cleaning chemical from Amazon together with a pressure sprayer. Spray, walk off and in a few days its cleaner than me pressure washing it and its stayed like that.

Anyone one want to buy a pressure washer?

You can buy an upgraded Nilfisk patio cleaner and a company called Cleanstore does good prices for this and other attachments.
