SMP When to Claim Housing Benefit?

Can someone help please following a trip to the Citizens Advice a while ago we believe we might be entitled to Housing Benefit once my SMP goes down to the £139.58 PW but not for the first 6 weeks when it is paid at 90% of my wages. When do we need to go to the council to apply as soon as I start my maternity leave or after 6 weeks??

Hi, have a look at this website gov.uk/housing-benefit/how-to-claim , "you can claim in advance by up to 13 weeks (or 17 weeks if you’re aged 60). For example, because you’re moving. You won’t usually get any money before you move." Good luck!0
